Schieren is a municipality in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and belongs to the canton of Diekirch . Together with the communities of Bettendorf , Colmar-Berg , Diekirch , Ettelbrück , and Erpeldingen , Schieren forms the Nordstad region . Along with the cities of Luxembourg and Esch an der Alzette , this region is the third development pole of the Grand Duchy.

history

The municipality of Schieren was created by a law of January 22, 1850. Before that, the village was part of the Ettelbrück municipality.

On March 4, 1967, one of the first cable television networks in Luxembourg was established in Schieren. Today the citizens of Schieren are offered 62 analog and 100 digital television programs as well as 40 radio programs along with the Internet via CATV.
