Schillerstrasse (Radebeul)

The Schillerstrasse is a city road the Saxon town of Radebeul , in the original district Radebeul itself.

Along with Goethestrasse, Schillerstrasse is one of the two circular streets that run across Clara-Zetkin-Strasse , Einsteinstrasse , Karl-Marx-Strasse and August-Bebel-Strasse , which are listed in the Dehio manual as an example of the radial road system of the so-called Lindenquartier are, within which the Gründerzeit development of Radebeul is remarkably well preserved.

Development

The numbering of the house addresses begins today on August-Bebel-Straße on the southern side of the street, i. H. From there, numbers 15 to 31 run on the right side of the street on Meißner Straße ; on the left (northern) side of the street it goes from No. 12 to No. 36 at the city limits of Dresden.

Many of the buildings on Goethestrasse are now listed and are therefore listed in the list of cultural monuments in Radebeul (district) , some of them under the addresses of side streets:

Naming

In 1896, the street was named Schillerstraße in honor of the poet Friedrich Schiller , which it still bears today.

August Koebig's villa, Schillerstrasse

The factory owner August Koebig (1855–1944) had the master builders, the Ziller brothers, build a neo-baroque villa in 1900, designed by the architect Oswald Haenel, on the corner property at Schillerstraße 18 / Karl-Marx-Straße .

The architect Max Czopka (1888 – unsafe 1965) built the five-family house at Schillerstrasse 15 for the Radebeul building cooperative in 1927 , to which he also relocated his office.
