Schippach is a district of the city of Miltenberg in the district of the same name in Lower Franconia ( Bavaria ) and a district .
geography
The church village of Schippach is located in the southeast of the Miltenberg municipality. The distance to the core town of Miltenberg is a good five kilometers as the crow flies and around nine kilometers by road. The Franconian Marienweg leads through Schippach .
Not far to the south is the state border with Baden-Württemberg . To the east and south-east, the place is surrounded by meadows and fields, in the other directions there are forest areas. The village and its surroundings are drained by the Schippach , a tributary of the Erf, which flows north through the village .
Schippach, the hamlet of Berndiel and the wasteland of Geisenhof are in the district .
history
The oldest known mention was made in a lawsuit in 1380. Only one Schippacher survived the Thirty Years War . The Catholic Church of St. Wendelin , built in 1734, belongs to the parish of Eichenbühl . In the 19th century, many Schippachers emigrated to America.
In 1862 the Miltenberg district office was formed, on whose administrative area Schippach was located. As everywhere in the German Reich , the term district was introduced in 1939. Schippach was now one of the 31 communities in the old district of Miltenberg . On July 1, 1972, this merged with the district of Obernburg am Main to form the new district of Miltenberg .
In 1976 the community Schippach, consisting of the community parts Berndiel, Geisenhof and Schippach, was incorporated into Miltenberg. A festival hall was built in 2004, and in 2006 Schippach took first place in the competition Our village should become more beautiful .

The Schippach volunteer fire brigade provides fire protection and general help in the area. There is also a music association in Schippach.
