The Wolfsbruch lock is a boat lock in the Hüttenkanal in the Rheinsberg lake area . It is located in Kleinzerlang , a district of Rheinsberg in the north of Brandenburg . With around 35,000 passages per season, it is one of the most frequented sport boat locks in Germany.

General

The lock was built from 1876 to 1881 according to the Finow dimension and replaced in 1968 by a new sheet pile wall construction . It balances the water level between the Kleiner Pälitzsee and the Großer Prebelowsee and has an average height of fall of around half a meter. The lock chamber is 42.59 m long, 5.27 m wide and is closed with mortise gates . Because of water abstraction disputes with the “foreign” Mecklenburgers, the lock system was expanded after the opening with a storage basin for Brandenburg water and special scoop technology for filling the higher-lying basin.

The lock bridge built in 2013 on the east side of the lock has a clearance height of 4.20 m, it replaced a bridge from the 19th century. The waiting areas for pleasure craft upstream and downstream were extensively renovated from October 2014 to March 2015. A new lock keeper's house was completed in 2018. The Wolfsbruch marina was opened in 1999 about half a kilometer west of the lock .

The facility, which has been converted into a self-service sluice , is maintained by the Eberswalde Waterways and Shipping Office . The excursion and pleasure boat trips can be used all year round at certain times of the day.
