Regow lock yard

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Schleusenhof Regow , also Regow-Schleuse, Regower Schleuse or Schleuse Regow is a residential area of the town of Lychen ( Uckermark district , Brandenburg ). The living space was created in 1867/8 when the Oberhavel was expanded and a lock system was set up at this point. The name is a reminder of the village of Rudow , which fell into desolation in the 14th century , and whose name, as a field name, gradually changed to Regow in the 18th century. The village of Rudow, however, was north of today's residential area in the Havelknie at the Lindenberggraben, which flows into the Havel from the east. The Regow lock on the Havel now works in automatic mode or self-service.

location

The Regow lock yard is located about nine kilometers southwest of the core town of Lychen on the Havel. At first it belonged to the municipality of Bredereiche and in 1980 it was a residential area of Bredereiche. The living space is in the Tangersdorf district , but can only be reached via Bredereiche. The farm located there therefore has the postal code and the telephone area code for Bredereiche. To the east of the town, the Himmelpforter Heide begins with the former Tangersdorf military training area , which is part of the Kleine Schorfheide nature reserve .

history

The medieval village of Rudow was first mentioned in a document in 1307. At that time Redekin v. In 1342 it is still called a village. In 1375 it had already fallen wild. The name is from an aplb. Basic form Rudov (= place where lawn iron ore occurs ). ruda means lawn iron ore or red earth. 1574 the field Rudow z. T. used by the farmers of Bredereiche . After the 30-year war, the spelling gradually changed (via Feld Riow to Regow , also Rögow ). It is also listed in the historical local dictionary under the name Regow. The old village was a little further north in the Havelknie, so not at the place of today's living space. In 1782 a request from former Réfugiés (French religious refugees) from Braunsberg to repopulate the Feldmark was rejected.

In 1868 the Regow-Schleuse establishment was built on the Feldmark ; officially it was called the Regower lock . A lock keeper lived with his family in the lock keeper's house. The residential area had four residents in 1868 and five in 1925. In 1980 the lock belonged to the VEB waterway operation and maintenance Eberswalde, operating part Zehdenick.

Today the Schleusenhof Regow residential area, which belongs to Lychen, is located at this point. Since it is only 3 km away from Bredereiche and can only be reached via Bredereiche, it has a postal code and telephone code for Bredereiche. A goat cheese dairy is now housed in the former lock keeper's house and in a new building.
