The Schloßbrücke in Straubing, also known as the inner Danube bridge , connects the old town of Straubing with the inland island of Gstütt . The bridge crosses the Danube at river kilometer 2321,300 S in the course of the state road 2141. The federal road 20 ran over this bridge until its relocation to the east of the city in 1977.
construction
It is a two-hinged arch bridge with a width of 18.28 meters, a span between the abutments of 92.9 meters and a span between the arches of 91.50 meters. The width of the lane is 8.50 meters. Footpaths and cycle paths with a width of 4.61 meters run on both sides. The abutments are massive reinforced concrete bodies, each with an 8-meter-wide flood opening.
The vertical steel arches have riveted box profiles in a hat profile with a width of 0.86 meters and a height of 1.30 to 1.80 meters. They are connected to one another by eight riveted bolts. The orthotropic steel deck slab with 12 hangers each is removed over the arches . The diameter of the hangers is 150 millimeters and their spacing is 6 meters.
history
The bridge built between 1946 and 1949 by the MAN Gustavsburg plant is a replacement for the arched bridge from 1896, which was destroyed by the Wehrmacht on April 26, 1945 . It was inaugurated by Bishop Michael Buchberger on December 27, 1949. In the period from October 1993 to August 1994, the bridge was refurbished and adapted to the load specifications of DIN 1072. The bridge arches and the abutments were preserved.
Predecessor structures
1655
Between 1655 and 1660, a bridge was built by the builder Finsterwalder, which was built with three pillars and included the Danube mill (later the Herrenmühle) on the right bank. This bridge existed until after 1827, as the representation on the local newspaper from 1827 shows.
1829
For the period around 1829, a bridge is described that is 325 feet long and rests on four yokes made of ashlar.
1855
The wooden truss bridge from 1857 on the system of Howe had two fields of approximately 44.50 meters. It was built between 1855 and 1857. During the construction of the steel arch bridge in 1896, it was used as a makeshift bridge and was moved downstream to auxiliary yokes. After the arch bridge was completed, it was demolished.
1896
The arch bridge from 1896 was a two-hinged arch bridge with external truss arches and made of structural steel. It had the same span as the current bridge and a slightly different span of 91.0 meters. The abutments of today's arched bridge mainly originate from this construction period.
