The Straubing Danube Bridge , also known as the Reibersdorf road bridge , spans the Danube and its foreland areas on both sides in Lower Bavaria, east of Straubing, southwest of Reibersdorf . As part of the bypass, it crosses Bundesstraße 20 with two lanes and was built between 1974 and 1977. The 614.54 m long bridge has a tied arch bridge with 200 m span as a river bridge and has a one-sided transverse gradient of 2.5% with an almost straight route in plan.

location

The bridge runs almost exactly in a north-south direction and, with the exception of the southern approach bridge, is located entirely in the area of the municipality of Parkstetten , district of Straubing-Bogen , near the Reibersdorf district. The northern foreland bridge spans the Reibersdorf polder . In relation to the Danube, the bridge is located at kilometer 2317.0 of the international kilometer of the river.

description

Power bridge

A steel tied arch bridge with a span of 200 m is arranged over the Danube . The vertical arches have an arch stitch of 31.2 m. The steel arches have welded box profiles 0.8 m wide and 1.244 m high with a center distance of 15.5 m. They are connected to one another by a postless bond and portal bars. The two outer stiffening beams, 2.38 m high and 0.8 m wide, each with 12 hangers made of round steel profiles with a maximum diameter of 125 mm, are removed over the arches. The orthotropic slab made of steel is supported by cross members at intervals of 5.13 m.

Approach bridges

On the northern bank of the Danube there is a 355.85 m long, five-span foreland bridge, on the southern bank a 55.25 m long single-span construction. Both structures are supported by the river bridge on dividing pillars with a bearing center distance of 2.3 m. The approach bridges are seamless prestressed concrete structures . In the transverse direction, the superstructure has a two-web T-beam cross- section with a 15.0 m wide and 28 cm thick deck in the bridge axis. The 60 to 70 cm wide bridges are arranged at a distance of 7.5 m. There are transverse washers in the bearing axles. With a constant construction height of 2.93 m, the spans for the northern approach bridge are 63.2 m in the end spans and 76.1 m in the three central openings. The south foreland bridge spans 55.24 m.

history

Construction work

The superstructures of the prestressed concrete bridges were built with movable falsework . The steel tied arch bridge was delivered in parts. First, the stiffening girders with the deck slab were installed on the northern foreshore bridge and inserted in sections over five auxiliary supports. This was followed by the assembly of the arch with sections being pushed in over the stiffening girders serving as a sliding track.

General renovation

A general renovation with a budget of 4.5 million euros has been carried out since 2016 and is expected to be completed by autumn 2017. The renovation of the southern approach bridge has been completed, the renovation of the river bridge is still ongoing. The longitudinal girders of the current bridge are also reinforced on the underside by 28 millimeter thick sheets. The northern approach bridge cannot be renovated due to corrosion damage to the tendons and is to be replaced by a new building.

Expansion planning

In the course of flood protection measures, the dike was relocated by 240 meters on the north bank, which means that the road embankment now represents an obstacle to footing during floods. That is why there are plans to expand the bridge to the north by building a new bridge made up of three fields.
