The Schloitzbach rises southeast of Braunsdorf in the Meissen highlands . In the upper reaches of the stream, partly piped, initially flows westwards and is passed through the disused Braunsdorf lime works on the stone hill. Then the Schloitzbach, accompanied by the state road 192, flows in a southerly direction through a predominantly wooded Muldental valley and reaches the Tharandt district at the end of the Hintergersdorfer Schenkweg, as an extension of the Erbgerichtsgasse. His further course leads past the Klippermühle and the Tharandt cemetery into the Granatental. East of the ridge goats Leite , who since 1903 also Bismarckhöhe is called the urban development uses of the traversed by Schloitzbach notched sole valley. In the valley section between the Eichhübel (320 m) and the Bastei as well as the Weißiger Höhe, the Schloitzbach is bordered on both sides by the lanes of Roßäßler-Straße. At the northern foot of the Schloßberg the stream flows over the Tharandt market and changes its direction to the northeast in a loop. The last section of the stream leads through the valley between the Schlossberg and the Stiefel to the southeast. After 5.3 km the Schloitzbach flows into the Wilde Weißeritz opposite the Cotta building of the Tharandt Forestry University .

Flood

On July 5, 1958, a heavy thunderstorm led to a flash flood of the Schloitzbach, in which a fire fighter and the caretaker of the forestry college died in the floods.

Heavy precipitation from May 31 to June 4, 2013 led to flooding on the Schloitzbach and its tributaries. Damage of around € 1.25 million occurred on the bed of the Schloitzbach, the frog pond on the Ochsengrundbach and paths on the Opitzer Höhe.
