Eichberg Castle
The Eichberg castle in Lauterbach , a town in the Vogelsbergkreis in Hesse , was built from 1899 to 1901. The building at Am Eichberg 41 is a protected architectural monument .
history
The so-called Eichhof Palace was built as a residence for Friedrich Hermann Riedesel . In 1929 the city of Lauterbach acquired the building with the park and moved the hospital to the large building. After the Second World War , the hospital was expanded with several new buildings and the farm buildings belonging to the castle were demolished.
description
The architect of the Eichhof was the government builder Hugo Hartung from Charlottenburg . The castle was built in the neo-baroque style. The two-storey, longitudinal building is structured by pilasters , risalites and a cornice . The mansard roof is provided with modeled chimneys and elaborate ridge crowns. The façades originally facing the park are opened on the ground floor through large arched windows. A veranda is built into the southeast corner of the building , above is a balcony with a triglyph frieze on Doric columns . The main entrance is in an open porch on the north side. Inside, the large hall with its painted stucco ceiling and the staircase are remarkable.
