Töscheldorf Castle is north of Althofen . It is a listed buildingf2 .

history

Töscheldorf was first mentioned in 1369. In the 14th century there was a manor house in which a Salzburg bailiff sat, with a yard. Today's castle was built in the 17th century by the ironworks Georg Ordolph Gschwindt, the owner of the hammer works in Pöckstein. The barons of Ottenfels contributed significantly to the design of the castle in the first half of the 18th century. Until the 19th century, Töscheldorf was mainly owned by trade families, including Dickmann-Secherau . Today the facility is privately owned and rented as a polytechnic school .

The castle is a stately, three-story, baroque building with a gable-crowned, slightly protruding, three-axis central projection . The column portico with a balcony dates from the 19th century, the tendril stucco around the windows from the beginning of the 18th century. A coat of arms can be seen on the gable.

The wall paintings in the large hall in the middle of the main floor were created by Josef Ferdinand Fromiller in the middle of the 18th century. The space is divided by painted columns with niches. In the niches, ancient statues of gods are depicted using the grisaille technique. Mythological scenes are reproduced above the niches and above the doors: On the west wall you can see (from left to right) Perseus , above Callisto , transformed into a she-bear; Scientia, above Mercury presents the lyre to his brother Apollo ; Polyphem , Akis and Galateia hurling a boulder over the door ; Mars , above Arion on a dolphin. The representations on the east wall show (from left to right) Vulcan , above Europe on the bull; over the door Daidalos and Icarus ; Gloria Virtutis, about Apollo, kidnapping Hyakinthos ; Minerva , above Andromeda bound with the sea monster; above the door Polyphemus and Galathea and on the far right Jupiter and above that Apollo and Marsyas . The ceiling painting is covered by a wooden ceiling from the 19th century. Allegedly an assembly of gods is represented on it.

Castle chapel

The chapel is a small building on a terrace south of the castle. The sacred building, which was probably built in 1597, underwent extensive renovations in the first half of the 19th century. The late renaissance portal framed by half-columns is marked on the entablature with "Sigfridus Steyrer aedificavit 1597". Above is a bezel with a marble relief from 1897. The depicted Mary between angels is a copy of a Florentine work from the early 16th century. The large neo-Gothic tracery window above the portal and the surrounding arched frieze were created in the 19th century. The interior of the chapel is decorated with Biedermeier paintings .

Farm yard

The farmyard next to the castle is a two-storey, classicist Biedermeier building built around 1840.
