The existing building stock was initially built in the Weser Renaissance style. The construction of the main house and the first east wing with crenellated gables and a stair tower began in 1540 on foundations from the 14th century after the Korff-Schmising family had acquired the property in 1524 (Heinrich Korff-Schmising was the son-in-law of the last Hoberg). The second east wing was added together with the tower around 1671. At the beginning of 1700 the main entrance, the terrace and the west wing were added in the simple baroque style. The baroque orangery was designed by Johann Conrad Schlaun in 1751 and is not open to the public. The castle lake is fed by the Laibach .

Former bath house

According to a report from the middle of the 18th century, healing springs were discovered in Tatenhausen in 1720 , but they were not drilled until 1799. In addition to two developed mineral water springs , mud springs with medicinal properties were also found. As a result, drinking cures and water and mud baths were offered, and the bathhouse also dates from this time.
