Hörste is a district of Halle (Westf.) In the Gütersloh district in North Rhine-Westphalia .
geography
Hörste is located between Halle / Westphalia, Versmold and Borgholzhausen within sight of the Teutoburg Forest . The village church marks the center of the village. The old-established restaurants Gerhold's and Vögeding and the old school, which is now part of the Hörste primary school, are located in the vicinity . The Ruthebach and Loddenbach flow through the town center . The village is shaped by its rural surroundings.
history
The place name probably comes from the Germanic and means Hursti forest settlement . The place was first mentioned in a document in 1056. It is older than the city of Halle. On January 1, 1973, Hörste was incorporated into Halle.

Society and culture
Active village life is mainly determined by its club life. The Hörste volunteer fire brigade , the Kyffhäuser Comradeship, the men's choir, the Heimatverein and the Hörste gymnastics community organize three festivals every year: the Christmas market, the Hörster stroll and the Hörster Volksfest (shirt-sleeve ball), which took place for the 50th time in 2005. Another event is the sunflower party, the so-called "Party in the Yellow Lake". In 2006 around 5,000 visitors came to Hörste to celebrate to live and party music in the marquee. In addition, the Kyffhäuser camaraderie in Hörste offers the opportunity to practice shooting sports.
Sports
The majority of Hörsteraner is a member of the local sports club , the TG Hörste von 1932 e. V. The focus of TG Hörste is the handball and football department as well as tennis, karate, various gymnastics groups, an aerobics group and an MS group. Hörste is considered a "handball village". In the 2018/19 season, both the men's and women's teams competed in the regional league. The female A-youth qualified for the Bundesliga in 2018 .
