Location of Künsebeck in Halle (Westf.)

Künsebeck is a district of the city of Halle (Westphalia) in the district of Gütersloh , North Rhine-Westphalia . After the city district, Künsebeck is the largest district of Halle. The place primarily serves as a residential and commercial area for the city, and industrial companies have also settled here.

history

Künsebeck is first mentioned in 1329. Kunsebecke means something like "a brook that sounds or murmurs". The Künsebecker Bach rises in Künsebeck , which flows into the Rhedaer Bach in Kölkebeck .

During the Second World War, a weapons factory for the Dürkopp company with over 2000 jobs was built in Künsebeck .

Like other parts of Halle, Künsebeck used to be an independent municipality. With the re-establishment of the Gütersloh district on January 1, 1973, Halle lost its status as a district town and Künsebeck its independence, as the smaller communities were incorporated into the city as part of the restructuring.

In recent years, community life in the Künsebeck district has developed very strongly. Since the mid-1980s, many citizens have been involved in a citizens' initiative, the Interest Group Künsebecker Bürger eV (IGKB), to make the district more interesting. The youth work of the Evangelical Church also shapes the district through a new youth center, which serves as a contact point for many young people in the middle of Künsebeck.

In 2011 the initiative Künsebecker Bürger was founded. The reason for the establishment was the upcoming opportunity for citizens to participate in the land-use planning for the Ravenna Park intermunicipal commercial and industrial area of the city of Halle Westphalia.
