geography

Spring streams

Fuchsbaechel

The Fuchsbaechel is the right source brook of the Schmelzbach. Sometimes it is only seen as the upper reaches of the Schmelzbach . It rises from the old healing and miraculous spring Fontaine de Climbronn in the North Vosges south of the mountain village Climbach at an altitude of about 370  m . It first runs in a north-west direction along the south-west edge of the village, then makes a large loop and now flows south through a wooded valley. At Jungwald it turns to the west and unites a little later with the Hunsenbach coming from the south .

Hunsenbach

The Hunsenbach is the left source brook of the Schmelzbach. Sometimes it is only seen as a tributary of the Schmelzbach . It rises in the Forêt domaniale de Pfaffenbronn north of the Refuge du Soultzerkopf from the Club Vosgien . It runs north west past Pfaffenbronn and then flows together with the Fuchsbaechel coming from the east .

course

The Schmelzbach arises from the confluence of the Fuchsbaechel and Hunsenbach at an altitude of 225  m southwest of the hamlet of Ziegelhutte . After the confluence, the Schmelzbach forms a small pond. It now flows in a west-southwest direction south of the Lembach Musée de la Ligne Maginot and finally flows south of the Lembach settlement Eichholz at an altitude of about 179  m from the left into the Sauer .

On the other side, a little further south, the Markbach flows into the Sauer .
