The Markbach is a four-kilometer-long right tributary of the Sauer in Alsace ( Grand Est region ).
course
The Markbach rises at an altitude of about 400 m in the Forêt de Katzenthal in the Northern Vosges north of the hamlet Disteldorf. It flows first in a southerly direction, forms two small ponds and is then strengthened by a second spring stream. Its direction of flow is now the southeast, its main direction of flow, which it essentially maintains up to its mouth. A small forest stream flows towards him on his right-hand side to the south-east of Disteldorf. The Markbach now runs through the Forêt de la Verrerie to the east past Morgenkopf , then flows through the Kuehlaege and ends in a creek about 250 m from the Sauer. There is no further stream bed up to the Sauer.
On the other side, a little further north, the Schmelzbach flows and then a little downstream the Verlorenerbach into the Sauer .
