geography

Neighboring towns are the districts of Kremmeldorf , Meedensdorf , Drosendorf and Giech (town of Scheßlitz ) belonging to the municipality of Memmelsdorf .

history

The place was mentioned for the first time in 1379, earlier also under the name Smirendorf or Schmirreldorf.

In 1408 Hans von Eckdorf sold the farm to Smirendorf to the canon and supreme schoolmaster Friedrich Czolner von Halburg . The court was a free man's feud; it could only be transferred to one man.

For a long time the village was separated by the creek flowing through it, one part belonged to Scheßlitz , the other to Memmelsdorf.

After the secularization , the place had 14 houses. One fell to the later Bamberg Citizens' Hospital and two remained under the von vonöffelholz family . The rest was lendable to the royal rent office in Scheßlitz .

Later the place belonged to the municipality of Kremmeldorf until both places were incorporated into the municipality of Memmelsdorf on January 1, 1972 .
