The place is mentioned for the first time in 1162.

Later one can prove houses that belong to St. Jakob in Bamberg . After the secularization there were 16 houses. One each went to the Seefriedsche administration office in Buttenheim and one to the hospital office in Scheßlitz . The rest was lendable to the royal rent office in Hallstadt .

Later the place belonged to the municipality Merkendorf until both places were incorporated into the municipality Memmelsdorf on January 1, 1972 .
