The Schnalskamm (also Schnalser Kamm ) is a mountain ridge in the south of the Ötztal Alps between the Weißkugel (or the Hochjoch ) and the Hochwilden and forms the border between the Austrian state of Tyrol and the Italian province of South Tyrol . The eponymous Schnalstal is located on its south side .

The ridge runs almost exactly from west to east and is part of the main Alpine ridge . The Schnalskamm, together with the Gurgler Kamm , which continues the Schnalskamm near the Hochwilde in a north-westerly direction, forms the main ridge of the Ötztal Alps. The sloping flanks on the South Tyrolean side are part of the Texel Group Nature Park from about the Fineilspitze to the east .

The western end point, the Weißkugel ( 3738  m above sea level ), is also the highest point of the Schnalskamm. Other well-known peaks are the Fineilspitze ( 3514  m above sea level ), the Similaun ( 3599  m above sea level ) and the Hintere Schwärze ( 3624  m above sea level ). At the Fineilspitze, near the Ötzi site , the cross ridge branches off to the northeast as a side ridge. As a further side ridge, the Ramolkamm runs north to the Nederkogel ( 3163  m above sea level ) [all heights] , starting at the Karlesspitze ( 3462  m above sea level ) .
