history

The village of Schollach was settled by the Friedenweiler monastery in the 13th century and was first mentioned in a document on July 3, 1280. The name Schala at that time roughly meant impure Aach . The monastic Meierhof mentioned in 1316 is likely to have been located near today's church. In 1385 the place was owned by the Lords of Hornberg and Lords of Blumenegg , as it had been pledged by the Fürstenbergs . The decline in population that began in 1400 meant that out of 40 houses only 25 farms remained in the village. In 1473 a separate church was mentioned for the first time. On March 15, 1515, the Bishop of Constance consecrated the chapel in honor of St. Wolfgang . Before 1550, the pits of the Eisenbach mine reached the confluence of Schollach, before it was awarded by Count Friedrich to the Villingen citizen Michael Schwert on September 17, 1604 .

After clock production began in Schollach from around 1700, Simon Dilger (1672–1750) dealt with the production and further development of wooden clocks, making the place the home of the mechanical clock .

After the secularization of the Friedenweiler monastery, its manorial rule ended. Friedenweiler fell to the Fürstenberg family together with the Schollach lordship, which in turn became part of the Grand Duchy of Baden in 1806 .

In 1867 mining was stopped in the place. After the first telephone in Mittelschollach was installed in the Akziser family in 1894, the world's first ski lift was built in Schollach in 1908 . It was commissioned by the innkeeper of the Schneckenhof , Robert Winterhalder , across from his farm ( 47 ° 58 ′ 33.9 ″  N , 8 ° 13 ′ 34.4 ″  E ), operated with water power and overcame a distance of 280 m Height difference of 32 m. The facility was dismantled again during the First World War .

During the Second World War, five American airmen were shot dead after a parachute jump in Schollach on July 21, 1944 by order of the NSDAP district leader Benedikt Kuner .

On January 1, 1975, Schollach was incorporated into the Eisenbach community. On the same day, it was given the addition of the name (Hochschwarzwald) .

On July 19, 2005, Schollach was awarded the title climatic health resort .
