The Haupt- und Realschule Saterland (internal school for short: HRS Saterland ) is a general all-day school in Ramsloh, Lower Saxony . The secondary and secondary school is called “Grote Skoule fon't Seelterlound” in Sater Frisian , which means the “Great School of Saterland”.
The school consists of a multi-level secondary school and a secondary school. The Laurentius-Siemer-Gymnasium was built at the same location in 2007 . This uses some of the premises of HRS Saterland.
history
From 1613 to 1910
Around 1613, Protestant priests at Cloppenburg Castle reported that the pastors also had to serve the Ramsloh Custerei and to institute the youth. In the records of a Jesuit father from 1654 a teacher who holds school in winter is mentioned. A real school was set up for the first time around 1657. The lessons held here by the sexton Johann Hermanni took place with the permission of the Ramsloh pastor, but without his approval. In 1771, 114 years after the Ramsloher School was founded, 40 children attended classes regularly.
“There is only one school in this parish. School is too small. There are also no writing desks in it [...] school only in winter [...] children mostly 60. Didactic pieces form religion, reading, writing. The teacher understands arithmetic, but has not yet generally taught it in school [...] The pastor and the school teacher complain that parents do not send their children to school properly. "
In 1833, 176 years after the school was founded, historical records show that 110 children attended classes. In 1855 the state took over the sponsorship of the school. Spiritual supervision, however, remained with the church. After the establishment of two further schools in Hollenermoor (1803) and Hollen (1859), only 39 children went to the Ramsloh school in 1897.
From 1910 to 1970
In 1910, school supervision was transferred to the Ramsloh community. Under the main teacher Clemens Arlinghausen, a new school with two classes was built in 1928. During the war in 1945 the school and the attached teacher's apartment were completely destroyed. The reconstruction took place under Rector Konrad Pusch.
A new central school was inaugurated in Ramsloh in 1966. In today's secondary school, all students in grades five to nine from the Ramsloh community were trained. In 1969 the central school became an elementary school with a special level for all Saterland students from grade five. Franz Strotmann took over the management of the new type of school in 1970. These have now been attended by 334 students in ten classes.
Since 1971
The first construction phase of the school center was completed in 1971. 579 students attend 17 classes during this time. In 1972 the orientation level was introduced and a secondary school branch was set up. At the same time a sports hall was built. In the years 1975 to 1977 the second and third construction phases were completed and the Realschulzug became a fully developed Realschule. In 1984 the municipality of Saterland took over the sponsorship of the school from the district of Cloppenburg . In 1998 Manfred Broek took over the management of the Saterland school center. At that time there were around 50 teachers available to teach over 800 students.
In January 2003, the Ministry of Culture approved the school's application for recognition as an all-day school. For this purpose, the school center was rebuilt for around 1.6 million euros and received a new multi-purpose hall (auditorium), a cafeteria, a school library, an internet café and other multifunctional rooms.
In May 2004 the work, art and science rooms were renovated. In addition, the existing photovoltaic system for the "Sun in School" project was expanded. The money generated by this facility is used to equip the school, but especially to organize breaks. In July 2004 the orientation stage of the school center was closed.
In February 2005 the municipality of Saterland announced the complete redesign of the school center. For 2.9 million euros, classrooms are to be turned into learning workshops. Group rooms as well as teacher workstations in the teachers' library, a bicycle workshop and a multifunctional communication, exercise, culture and mobility park are to be created.
In February 2017 the headmaster Manfred Broek retired together with his wife Heidrun Broek, the former secondary school principal. At the same time Astrid Fedorowicz took over the management of the SZS. Since August 2017, the Haupt- und Realschule has had a new school website (hrs-saterland.de), on which a lot of important information about the school is represented.
