history

Shrub yard

Schwadorf was first mentioned in a document in 1109 as Suaventhorp . The manors Comarhof and Strauchshof can be identified as having a medieval origin. Both farms belong to the basic rule of the Cologne Kanonikerstifts St. Severin. In its entirety, Schwadorf belonged to the Electoral Cologne office of Brühl , but the archbishop only had high court rights there . In 1558 the plague raged in Schwadorf. In Napoleonic times, the place belonged to the canton of Brühl . According to the official description of the country from 1670, there were in Schwadorf, besides 20 mansion houses and three manors, the Schallenburg , the Weyerhof and the Krufftshof, which belonged to a Cologne canon of the same name.

Shrub yard

The Krufftshof, also known as Struchshof, Strughshof and Comarhof (from Ko for cow and mar for pond), was leased to Gerhard Strugh, which earned the site the nickname of shrub farm. This name appears in the archives for the first time in 1712. On August 11, 1755, the widower Johann Hommelsheim, the "villicus (administrator) in Struchshoff", died. His successors as Struchshalfen were the couple Franz Mager and Margaretha Hommelsheim, the daughter of the couple Johann Hommelsheim and Elisabeth Struck "ex Strughoff". At this time the canon Krufft had already died, because in the description of the Weyerhof from 1759 "Krufften heirs" are mentioned as residents. Around 1765, the Krufft heirs sold the farm to the Cologne banker JM Frantz. He apparently redesigned the courtyard buildings in such a way that he converted one half into a country residence for himself, while the other half served the farm, which was still leased out.

According to the cadastral registration from 1795, the shrub yard belonged to a Mr. Frantzen, probably the son of the aforementioned banker. The farm was leased to Peter Mager. The courtyard building with garden comprised three acres and three quarters, including 117 acres of arable land. A notary deed from 1821 provides information about the further fate of this farm: Heinrich Herriger from Rheindorf acquired the farm on October 23, 1802 through a foreclosure judgment. On August 27, 1821, he sold it and the land to Arnold Spürck for 6,153 thalers.

Club life

Schwadorf has a traditional club culture. 18 clubs are organized in the local village community, including a parental kindergarten initiative, a scout tribe and a choir. Road cycling , which has been pursued at RTC Radsportfreunde Brühl since 1980 and which organized the cycling criterion around Schwadorf every year from 2008 to 2016, is also of particular importance in Schwadorf . In football , the place is represented by FC Schwadorf 1973 , which plays with its teams in the district league.
