Swan Lake is a German-Austrian-American ballet film from 1966 by Truck Branss . The former also choreographed the music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky based on a libretto by Vladimir Beghitchew and Vasili Geletzer. The Wiener Symphoniker can be heard under the baton of John Lanchbery . The film premiered on December 26, 1966 on German television. It was not released until two years later.
action
A detailed description of the plot can be found in the article about the ballet of the same name . The plot is therefore only briefly discussed here: The tale is told of a prince who falls in love with an enchanted princess, who could then free her through his unwavering love, but who is initially deceived and finally drowned by an evil magician. The fable is very economical, just a little support for the illustrative music and the rich opportunity to celebrate classical ballet arts in colorful costumes and backdrops.
Reviews
The lexicon of international films describes the strip succinctly as a "brilliantly interpreted performance in the tragically ending version".
