Ahmet Taşyürek (born July 6, 1972 in Antakya ) is a former Turkish football player and current coach .

Player career

Taşyürek began his professional career in the summer of 1994 with Hatay Polisgücü at a third division club in his home province of Hatay . Here he quickly gained a regular place and ended the season with 25 league appearances. His successful debut at Plisgücü meant that he was signed after just one season by Hatayspor , the most successful club in his hometown. Here he established himself over the course of two seasons, first as a supplementary player and then as a regular player. From 1999 but lost this position within the team and completed only sporadic missions in the seasons 1999/00 and 2000/01. So he left Hatayspor in the summer of 2001 for arch-rival İskenderunspor . Here he played for one season and returned to Hatayspor after a year. In the summer of 2003 he left Hatayspor again and then remained without a club for the 2003/04 season.

In the summer of 2004 he was hired by fourth division Hatay Köy Hizmetleri SK and played one season here. Although he had a contract until the summer of 206, he dissolved in November 2005 by mutual agreement and ended his career.

Coaching career

Taşyürek began his coaching career right after completing his playing career with the fact that he began to look after his last club as a player, Antalyaspor , as head coach. This association was renamed Antalyaspor when Taşyürek took office from Hatay Köy Hizmetleri SK .

After two years at this club, he moved with Kırıkhanspor to another club in his home province of Hatay . He looked after this club for about a season and in the summer of 2008 took the position of assistant coach at Hatayspor , where he had played six seasons as a player. Here he assisted his former teammate and the club legend Mehmet Kakil . After Taşyürek had been in this position for three months, he left Hatayspor in November 2008 and resumed his previous work as head coach of Kırıkhanspor. With Kırıkhanspor Taşyürek qualified at the end of the 2008/09 season for the playoff phase of Amatör Küme , the then top division in Turkish amateur football. In this playoff phase in Akçaabat , the last climbers for the TFF 3rd Lig , the fourth-highest Turkish professional league, were played. Here his team prevailed in the final with 5-3 on penalties against Kayseri Pansu Şekerspor and returned to professional football after a 15-year absence. Taşyürek trained after this success three more seasons Kırıkhanspor. In his first fourth division season, his team played for a long time for promotion, but missed it in the last match days and then in the play-off phase.

In July 2013 Taşyürek was hired as head coach at third division Hatayspor. With this club he played in the next three seasons for the majority of the seasons for the championship or for promotion to the TFF 1st Lig . Although his team sometimes led the tables for weeks, they qualified at the end of the league phase of the TFF 2nd Lig only for the subsequent play-offs and missed direct promotion every time. In the play-off phase carried out in the knockout system , the final was reached twice in a row and the last opportunity for promotion was not used in the final. After Taşyürek missed promotion with Hatayspor three times in a row, his contract, which expired in summer 2015, was not extended any further.

For the 2015/16 season he took over the Istanbul third division club Ümraniyespor . Also with this club Taşyürek immediately played for the championship of the TFF 2nd Lig. Already at the beginning of the season his team is in a head-to-head race for the championship with city rivals İstanbulspor . After Taşyürek's team was able to replace İstanbulspor as leaders three times in the first half of the season, they awarded the autumn championship to their rivals. In the second half of the season, Ümraniyespor ousted İstanbulspor from the championship lead again after the 23rd matchday, built on their sovereign and secured the third division championship of the group red on matchday 32, two game days before the end of the season, with a 3-0 away win against direct rivals İstanbulspor and thus promotion to the TFF 1st Lig . After Taşyürek had led the club to his first ascent and thus the first participation in the 2nd Turkish league, his contract was extended for another season.

In October 2016 he was replaced by Erkan Sözeri at Ümraniyespor . He, in turn, took over Pendikspor, another Istanbul third division club , at the end of November 2016 .
