Schwarzach is a district of the municipality of Stadlern in the Upper Palatinate district of Schwandorf in Bavaria .

Geographical location

The approx. 35 buildings in the village of Schwarzach are widely scattered along the SAD 52 district road and 2159 state road southeast of Stadlern. The Czech border, only a few meters away, is formed by the Bavarian Schwarzach , which rises about 3 km further north as the "Goldbrunnen" from the Reichenstein massif on the southeast slope of the 896 m high Weingartner rock. Stadlern is around 3.5 kilometers away by road.

The houses of Schwarzach are located on the north, east and south slopes of the 640 m high Sauhügel .

history

Schwarzach already existed before 1410. It already owned glassworks in the 16th century, in 1652 there was a “Maxenhütte”, in 1700 the “Werner Glashütte”. In 1850 an own school was built in Schwarzach. Originally, Schwarzach consisted of a German and a Bohemian part, which was called Böhmisch-Schwarzach (Czech: Švarcava ).

religion

In Schwarzach there is a St. Anna chapel, where a service takes place once a month in summer. This chapel is the starting point of the St. Anna pilgrimage, a foot pilgrimage from Schwarzach to St. Anne's Church in Horšovský Týn in the Czech Republic, 26 km away (German: Bischofteinitz). It takes place annually on the Saturday closest to Annentag , July 26th. In Horšovský Týn in the Czech Republic, as in Schwarzach, an Anna Festival with a fair, music and all kinds of attractions is celebrated on this day.

Culture and sights

The Schwarzach border station is an ensemble characterized by an old border crossing that has been closed since the end of the Second World War and therefore unchanged in its external appearance. The old road embankment is still there, lined with apple trees and granite boundary stones, which curves down to the still existing border bridge. About 100 m from the stream that forms the border, there is still the old customs station, house no. Century with a gable roof and hook-shaped floor plan. The manor as a former post office house No. 1, a half-hipped roof building from the 19th century. The new customs house from 1925 has moved a little further inland. The engine duct for the mill (house no.2), the school (house no.21) and the barn houses with half-hipped roofs for the staff and the farmers, who are lined up along the road, point to the self-sufficiency efforts of the distant station.
