Black cracks

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Die Schwarze Risse is a bookshop in the autonomous center Mehringhof in the Berlin district of Kreuzberg . In addition to the bookstore, there is the Association A publishing house .

history

The business was founded in 1980 without a name and has been operating as Schwarze Risse since 1984 . The business is organized as a collective without hierarchical structures and has the legal form of a GmbH .

From 2002 to the end of March 2012, the collective also ran a bookstore of the same name in Kastanienallee in the Prenzlauer Berg district . Since April 2012, the shop there has been an independent bookstore on the swaying globe .

publishing company

Since 1986 the shop has been publishing books in cooperation with the Rote Straße bookstore in Göttingen and the Hamburg publisher Libertäre Association . The association A publishing house emerged from the collaboration in 2001 . The focus of activity is on the political left , anarchism , anti-fascism and anti-racism . In addition to books, there are also periodicals and magazines from the left-wing scene that are not available in normal newspaper stores and readings by international authors are organized. In recent years, guests have been Gerhard Hanloser , Ulrike Heider , Doğan Akhanlı , Gabriele Dietze , Detlef Hartmann , Luiz Ruffato , Dimitris Koufontinas , Bernd Langer and numerous others.

Searches

The two shops were repeatedly the target of searches by the Federal Criminal Police Office , the public prosecutor's office and the police. In the run-up to the demonstrations against the G8 summit in Heiligendamm in 2007, certain books and magazines, including the underground magazine Interim , were searched for and copies found were confiscated. In retrospect, the search was declared illegal.

From January 2010, the Berlin public prosecutor's office was investigating the Schwarze Risse and two other shops in Berlin, among other things for instructions on criminal offenses . The occasion was the display of publications from the radical left, in particular five issues of Interim and the one-time publication Prisma in the shops concerned. In the course of the investigation, there were several searches and seizures in both black cracks. The shops concerned see these proceedings as an attempt by the Berlin public prosecutor's office to revise the previous case law, which assumes that booksellers have too few control options to assess the legality of the content of the books and magazines they offer. On the occasion of the proceedings, a solidarity initiative Uncensored Reading was formed which called for the "immediate cessation of the proceedings against the Berlin booksellers". The proceedings were discontinued in June 2011.
