Wörnitzstein is a parish village and district of the large district town of Donauwörth in the Donau-Ries district ( Bavaria ). The municipality includes the village of Felsheim , the hamlets of Dittelspoint , Huttenbach and Osterweiler and the wastes Maggenhof (formerly Maggerhof), Reichertsweiler and Schwarzenberg .
history
The place name Stein is not uncommon. The first mention that can be safely assigned to Wörnitzstein is, according to two documents from the Kaisheim monastery, between the end of June 1214 and September 20, 1216. The river Wörnitz ("Stain an der Werncz") only appears in the documents from around 1417 onwards. , from 1534 regularly the current place name Wörnitzstein. The rulership conditions at that time can be found in the contract concluded in Augsburg in 1526 on disputes between the Dukes of Palatinate-Neuburg and the Kaisheim monastery on account of authority, border marking, appointment of guardianship and criminal jurisdiction over the people and goods of the Stein monastery. On July 1, 1972, Wörnitzstein was added to the Donau-Ries district in the course of the district reform in Bavaria , until May 1, 1973 with the name of Nördlingen-Donauwörth district. With the completion of the municipal reform, Wörnitzstein was incorporated into the large district town of Donauwörth on January 1, 1978.

As early as 1216, a pastor Rüdiger von Stein appeared as a witness in a document from the Kaisheim monastery (The documents of the Imperial Monastery of Kaisheim, No. 30, p. 23f., Giengen, 1216, before August 3).
The Catholic parish of Sankt Martin in Wörnitzstein belongs to the parish community Donauwörth-Riedlingen in the deanery Donauwörth in the diocese of Augsburg .
Felsheim, Dittelspoint, Huttenbach, Osterweiler, Maggenhof, Reichertsweiler and Schwarzenberg also belong to the parish.
