The Schwarzenberg is located in the Salzkammergut Mountains , with the communities of Elsbethen, a southern suburb of the city of Salzburg , as well as Ebenau and Puch near Hallein participating in the development. With a height of 1334 m above sea level. A. the summit, located exactly on the border between Ebenau and Elsbethen, is the highest point in both communities. At the foot of the southeast slope is the Wiestalstausee , which is used as a storage lake for energy generation.
