The Schwarzwaldalp is a small hamlet with scattered chalets in the Haslital in the Bernese Oberland , in the Swiss canton of Bern and belongs to the political community of Meiringen .

location

The Schwarzwaldalp has Rosenlaui as a neighboring town, which belongs to the community of Schattenhalb . The place is 14 km southwest of Meiringen on the Reichenbach , which gave the famous Reichenbachfall its name. The postcode is 3860, which also applies to Meiringen.

The next mobile post office is in the neighboring Rosenlaui , which on the street sign describes itself as the smallest town in Switzerland.

history

The place was the first inhabited settlement on the pass road from Grindelwald over the Grosse Scheidegg into the Haslital; A Kurhaus stood here as early as 1902, which burned down in 1943.

The only buildings today are a hotel, a simple tourist hostel with a restaurant and an old sawmill, which can be visited free of charge during opening hours. The first sawmill was probably operated as early as 1800, the sawmill in its current size dates from 1896.

reachability

The Schwarzwaldalp can be reached from Meiringen by public post bus ( Bergpoststrasse ) or by private car. The road to Grindelwald (15.5 km) is not permitted for private motorized traffic, but cyclists are allowed to use it; there is a bus route in summer.

The place is a good starting point for hikes to the Rosenlauigletscher , to the Dossenhütte as well as to the Engelhornhütte and the Grosse Scheidegg. Shortly before the site there is a public barbecue area on the Reichenbach.

In winter there is a toboggan route from Grosse Scheidegg to Schwarzwaldalp. Coordinates: 46 ° 41 '  N , 8 ° 8'  E ; CH1903:  653,202  /  169602
