history
The original meaning of the word marshal is groom. In the Middle Ages it was called marsk in Sweden . The office of Reichsmarschall was introduced in 1607 as the Reichsrat Göran Claesson Stiernsköld by King Karl IX . was appointed the first Kingdom Marshal. In the constitution of 1634 it was determined that he should be an imperial council, belong to the five imperial officials and should direct the courts. In 1680 the title was changed to Oberstmarschall (överstemarskalk). This change was reversed in 1722. He was in charge of Borgratten until 1844 . The Reichsmarschalle initially came from the upper nobility . Axel Vennersten (1936–1946) was the first incumbent who did not come from the nobility.
