The sulfur yellow chess flower ( Fritillaria collina ) is a species of the genus Fritillaria .

The sulfur yellow chess flower is a perennial herbaceous bulb that reaches heights of 12 to 20 (rarely up to 35) centimeters. The leaves are glossy green and narrowly eilanzettlich to linear. The lower leaves measure approximately 10 × 1.5 centimeters, the upper 7 to 8 × 0.3 to 0.6 centimeters. The tepals are sulfur yellow and have a purple checkerboard pattern. The outer ones measure 30 to 55 × 8 to 14 millimeters, the inner ones are 10 to 20 millimeters wide.

The flowering period extends from April to May.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 24.

Occurrence

The sulfur yellow chess flower occurs in the Caucasus and Transcaucasia on the edges of deciduous forests, in bent birch trees, on alpine meadows and between rocks at altitudes of 1700 to 4500 meters.
