The Schweriner FC 03 was a German football club based in Schwerin , which existed from 1903 to 1945. Home of the club were the sports facilities at Paulshöhe and on Ostorfer Ufer .

Athletic career

Schweriner FC was founded in 1903 under the name Schweriner FC from 1903 . The club was one of the founding members of the Mecklenburg Football Association (MFB) , established in 1904 , whose championship the Schwerin team won twice in 1905 and 1907.

With the dissolution of the MFB, the Mecklenburgers subsequently acted within the Lübeck-Mecklenburg football league in the championship of the North German Football Association , the SFC's finals six times between 1907 and 1933. Schwerin was clearly defeated against Altona 93 , Holstein Kiel and Victoria Hamburg , and was eliminated early from the North German finals.

With the Gauligen introduced in 1933, the SFC initially operated for one season in the Gauliga Nordmark , with just three points the club was relegated again in the opening season. Only in 1938, after a merger with VfL Schwerin as Schweriner SV 03 , succeeded in returning to the top German league. Analogous to the 1933/34 season, Schwerin rose again in the Gauliga area without a chance. With the dissolution of the Gauliga Nordmark in 1942 and the formation of the Gauliga in Schleswig-Holstein , Hamburg and Mecklenburg, Schwerin 03 was promoted to the Gauliga Mecklenburg after the withdrawal of local rivals WSG Schwerin in the 1943/44 season . The club finished the season in fifth place, but lagged significantly behind the leading air force clubs of LSV Rechlin and LSV Rerik .

Subsequently, the club was prematurely withdrawn from gaming operations in 1944 due to the war and dissolved in 1945. A new establishment was not carried out. After the Second World War, SG Schwerin was founded as a successor club.
