Walter Borck (born May 1, 1891 in Hamburg-Eimsbüttel , † December 25, 1948 in Hamburg-Winterhude ) was a German football goalkeeper who had played an international match for the senior national team .

Career

societies

Born in Hamburg-Eimsbüttel, Borck began his football career in the senior sector in 1907 as a 16-year-old goalkeeper at HFC 1888 in Hamburg , where he was initially called "Baby" because of his age. During his medical studies, he joined the football department of MTV Munich in 1879 and remained loyal to the club until 1914.

During the First World War he was active as a football player with Duisburg SpV and Schwerin FC 03 . From 1919 to 1920 he played (now as Dr. Borck) again for Hamburger SV , as this club was now called after a merger, in the Hamburg league , was then the keeper of the reserve team before he returned to southern Germany . From 1921 to 1930 he played for the Würzburger Kickers , the first two years in the Northern Bavarian Regional League , before the club returned to the reformed Bavarian Regional League in 1930 after years of second division .

Selection / national team

In 1911 he was a member of the selection team of the Association of South German Football Associations , which on May 25 in the final of the Crown Prince's Cup , which was rated as much stronger by the North German Football Association, only lost 4-2 after extra time .

In the same year he came to his only international match for the senior team . For the international match against Hungary's selection, which took place in Munich for the first time on December 17, 1911 , Borck was surprisingly given preference over the goalkeeper at the time, Adolf Werner . Presumably, the nomination was made on the one hand because of the home advantage, because the MTV field was to be played, on the other hand, because of the convincing performance in the final for the Crown Prince's Cup six months earlier. Borck could not prevent the 1: 4 defeat against Hungary, especially Imre Schlosser played outstandingly.
