The former swimming pool in Uetersen

The former Uetersen swimming pool is a listed building in Uetersen .

The building is an elongated two-story residential building with a fully hipped roof and a swimming pool with a gable roof and stepped gable attached to the rear . The clinker brick building has an indented central zone in the main facade, the rear facade with gable is provided with a multi-colored window . What is striking about the building are the carefully structured rows of windows, which are surrounded by protruding cornices on the ground floor of the main facade. The building was built in 1926 on an island-like property according to the plans of the Pinneberg architect Klaus Groth (1893–1979) on behalf of the local health insurance fund in Uetersen, which was located in the left part of the building. Klaus Groth was influenced by the architect and town planner Gustav Oelsner in this building . The connection of the public swimming pool, sauna, office of the local health insurance fund and the upper living rooms did justice to the economically tense times of the Weimar Republic and was unique in Schleswig-Holstein . The swimming pool was modified several times up to 1960 and in 1963 the pool was converted into a non-swimmer pool, as a new swimming pool was built on the left part . The swimming pool lost its independence through the extension and renovation.

The building is due to its high architectural, historical and urban value as a cultural monument under monument protection .
