Black baroque

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Schwobarock (German: Schwabenrock ) is a variant of rock music with texts in Swabian or in related Alemannic dialects .

background

Schwobarock is initially rock music in the 'language of the normal / simple people' in Swabia and the surrounding area, which was also the original target group of the Schwobarock. In many cases a 'broad dialect' is not used. Instead, the so-called dignitary Swabian is often used, i.e. H. Sentence structure and vocabulary are more or less based on standard German. However, there is hardly any overlap with the music of the Swabian-Alemannic Carnival . The Schwabenrock texts range from serious and socially critical (e.g. Schwoißfuaß) to humorous (Hank Häberle). In the Swabian-Alemannic Carnival , traditional Guggen music and mood music dominate . d. R. is in standard German. The music of the carnival is strongly characterized by being rhythmic and danceable. Accordingly, Schwabenrock is hardly played at the carnival. Even artists whose repertoire in addition to rock z. T. also play other styles, such as. B. the country, blues and rock'n'roll singer Hank Häberle are counted as black baroque.

history

Rock music in Swabian first became famous in 1975, when Wolle Kriwanek and Grachmusikoff and Schwoißfuaß celebrated their first major successes. For a long time, both groups determined the public image of this genre. In the course of the increasing popularity of the black baroque, the Tübingen band Black Cat Bone , which actually focused on English-language blues rock , also released an LP with Swabian lyrics in 1983.

After great successes beyond the Swabian language area, interest declined somewhat in the 1980s. In the early 1990s there was an upswing with a number of new artists and bands. While the first Swabian rock bands often had socially critical and alternative texts, new actors such as Hank Häberle , Gonzo and Wurzelsepp wrote humorous and cheeky lyrics. Bands like Pommfritz have been performing continuously since the early 1980s.

Trends

Economically, Swabian rock has to struggle with the fact that firstly the Swabian language area is limited and secondly the spread of the dialect is declining, especially among younger urban audiences. However, they benefit from the strong upswing in Swabian art and culture in general, e.g. B. the Swabian theater or the Fasnet . Nowadays there are also more Swabian parts of the Swabian language on radio and television than before 1990. B. Dodokay or Hannes and the mayor .

In addition to a number of leisure bands such as Rock & Rollinger , Odeng, Muggabatschr, the Drommeldar Trio, Brozzo and VON ENNA RAUS, professional bands such as B. Wendrsonn .
