Hank Häberle Jr. , actually Bernhard Soppa (born January 7, 1957 in Hemmingen ; † January 1, 2007 in Stebbach ) was a German country musician.

The musical repertoire of " Spätzlescowboy " Hank Häberle consisted on the one hand of cover versions of well-known country and rock 'n' roll titles with Swabian lyrics such as Reng aus Feier ( Ring of Fire , Johnny Cash ), Uff goht's her Saftsack ( C'mon Everybody , Eddie Cochran ), tougher than dr Rescht ( Tougher than the Rest , Bruce Springsteen ) or Nemm den Bendl from deim Hohr ( Help Me Make It Through the Night , Kris Kristofferson ), on the other hand from original compositions.

The themes of his texts were the Swabian mentality ( Mir hend blos oin Fehler , Henner koine Mauldascha do? ), Swabia ( I believe mei Schwobaländle still calls me , Hoim ens Schwobaland ) or cars ( I drive GTI , V8-Big-Block ), often with self-deprecating passages. Socially critical topics such as AIDS ( Ääds oder geht's ), environmental pollution ( Dronda am Neckar ), Saddam Hussein ( Her uff Saddam ) or reunification ( Flichtlengswalzer , Dr Apratratra ) were also part of his repertoire.

As a tribute to VfB Stuttgart , he released the album I ben a bogglharter Fän in 1997 by VfB with 14 titles.

death

Hank Häberle died in his apartment in the old town hall of Stebbach between December 24, 2006 and January 1, 2007 of a gastric rupture . The exact date of death could not be determined due to the circumstances. January 1st was stated in his obituary. He was buried in the urn wall in the Hemmingen cemetery, together with his mother, who died just a year later.

Häberle had suffered from diabetes for a long time and had taken several alcohol withdrawal treatments .

  • The name Hank Häberle Jr. is derived from Hank Williams Jr. and the typical Swabian name Häberle .
  • Häberle has been booked almost exclusively for smaller events since the late 1990s. A highlight of his career was a concert in 1991 at the LKA Longhorn in Stuttgart.
