Scott MacGregor

Ronald Scott MacGregor (born October 22, 1914 in Edinburgh , Scotland , United Kingdom , † 1973 in Chichester , West Sussex , England ) was a Scottish film architect .

Born in Scotland, he worked as a painter and set designer after completing his artistic training. At the age of 25, MacGregor switched to film. At first he was employed as an assistant architect and draftsman, and immediately after the Second World War , MacGregor designed decorations for the documentary production group Crown Film Unit , an institution of the British Ministry of Information .

Scott MacGregor switched to feature films in the early 1950s. Until the mid-1960s, his designs, most of which he created for B-films, were largely ignored. It was only when he switched to the production company Hammer Films, which specializes in horror fabrics, in 1968 that his career received a significant boost: "In the last five years of his life, MacGregor was mainly responsible for the designs of coffins, gloomy vaults and dim tombs," when he preferred the optical one Responsible for designing Hammers vampire films but also for two Frankenstein strips.
