Scott Thorson

Scott Thorson (born January 23, 1959 in La Crosse , Wisconsin ) is an American showman .

Life

From 1976 to 1982 Thorson was the lover of the American entertainer Liberace , who was also his employer at the beginning. In order to look more like his life partner, who was around 40 years his senior, Liberace arranged for several plastic surgeries for Thorson. A chin implant that was used was later removed.

After the relationship ended in 1982, Thorson filed a $ 113 million maintenance suit against Liberace. The parties agreed out of court on a five-digit amount, several cars and two poodles for Thorson. In 1988 Thorson published the book Behind The Candelabra - My Life with Liberace , in which he wrote about intimate details of his former significant other. Despite his intimate relationship with Liberace, Thorson did not develop AIDS like him .

Thorson appeared as a key witness in the trial of the " Wonderland murders, " in which his acquaintance, the porn actor John Holmes , was one of the suspects. In 1990 he was shot multiple times when drug traffickers broke into his hotel room in Jacksonville , Florida .

In autumn 2012 he reported in an interview about an anal cancer disease . In July 2013, Thorson pleaded guilty to a credit card fraud lawsuit and was given a long suspended sentence. He failed to comply with drug tests that were part of the probation requirement.

In 2012/2013 Steven Soderbergh filmed the relationship story between Liberace and Thorson based on Thorson's book under the title Behind the Candelabra (German title Liberace - Too much of the good is wonderful ). In the film, Liberace was played by Michael Douglas and Thorson by Matt Damon .
