The SeaFrance Renoir was a ferry of the French shipping company SeaFrance , which entered service in 1981 as the Côte D'Azur . The since 1986 between Calais and Dover ship used remained until 2009 in service and has been in two years time spent 2011 at the Indian Alang scrapped.

history

The Côte D'Azur was built under construction number 256 at Ateliers et Chantiers du Havre in Le Havre and was launched on December 22, 1980. After the takeover by the Société nationale des chemins de fer français on September 26, 1981, the ship began ferry operations between Boulogne-sur-Mer and Dover on September 29, after its maiden voyage .

On August 5, 1982, the Côte D'Azur collided in the port of Calais with Chantilly , which is also part of the Société nationale des chemins de fer français , causing both ferries to be slightly damaged. In January 1986, the ship switched to the Calais to Dover route, after having been in use there since 1985.

In January 1990 the Côte D'Azur went to the Societé Propietaire des Navaires and was henceforth managed by the co-owner Stena Line . In January 1996 the ship finally switched to SeaFrance's fleet under the name SeaFrance Renoir . In 1999, the Stena Line sold its shares in the ship to the Societé Propietaire des Navaires, which now became the sole owner of the ferry.

From November 2001 to February 2002 the SeaFrance Renoir was unused in Dunkerque . She spent the rest of their time on the route from Calais to Dover before she retired on 30 September 2009 and again in Dunkerque launched was. After almost two years of berthing and the bankruptcy of the operator SeaFrance, the ship went to Alang, India, for scrapping in July 2011 under the transfer name Eastern Light , where it arrived on October 30, 2011.
