Sean McIntosh

Sean McIntosh (born May 21, 1985 in Maple Ridge , British Columbia ) is a retired Canadian racing car driver . He started in A1GP from 2005 to 2007 .

Career

McIntosh began his motorsport career in 1993. He was active in karting until 2001 and competed in midget car races. In 2000 he made his debut in formula racing and took part in races in the US F2000 National Championship . In 2001 he finished tenth in the Formula Continental of the San Francisco region. He also started in the US F2000 National Championship. A season later, McIntosh finished fifth in the US F2000 National Championship. In addition, he entered the North American Formula Renaulton. He won a race and finished fourth in the championship. In 2003 McIntosh took part in several races of the North American Formula Renault and was overall eleven. In addition, he competed in the winter series of the British Formula Renault and also took eleventh place here. For the next two years McIntosh was active for the Firstair team in the British Formula Renault. In his first season he won a race and was sixth overall. In 2005 McIntosh won five races and was runner-up behind Oliver Jarvis with 417 to 436 points .

In winter 2005/2006 McIntosh was a driver for the Canadian team in the A1 Grand Prix , which was held for the first time this season. McIntosh played the first eight, Patrick Carpentier the last three events. After McIntosh had achieved a podium finish with a third place at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz , his first victory followed at the Sentul International Circuit . It was also his last A1GP race for the time being. The Canadian team was in eleventh place in the team standings at the end of the season. In 2006 McIntosh received a cockpit in the Formula Renault 3.5 at KTR . McIntosh finished two races on the podium and a second place was his best result. At the end of the season he finished sixth in the drivers' championship with 63 points. So he prevailed within the team against Robbie Kerr , who had scored 20 points. In the A1GP season 2006/2007 graduated from McIntosh further A1GP race. He shared the cockpit with James Hinchcliffe this season . McIntosh contested four, Hinchcliffe seven race weekends. Fifth place was McIntosh's best result.

In 2008 and 2009 McIntosh was not active in any racing series. In 2010 he returned to motorsport , but this time in GT racing. He took part in one race of the Grand-Am Sports Car Series this season and the next and ended his career at the end of 2011.
