The fish species Sebastes caurinus , also known as "Copper rockfish" in English, belongs to the Sebastidae family ( spiny heads or rock bass).

features

Specimens of this species reach a length of approx. 58 cm and a weight of approx. 3 kg. They have a dark brown to olive green color with copper-colored and often pale yellow areas. The lateral line organ and underlying areas are usually white in color and become coppery over time.

Distribution, habitat and way of life

The habitat of Sebastes caurinus is made up of temperate coastal waters of the Pacific , where it occurs in the Benthal on rocky reefs up to a depth of 183 meters. There he prefers to recreate arthropods , mostly crabs and shrimps. With increasing size and therefore age, it mainly eats other fish and mollusks .
