Sebastian Adam Karl Sommer

Sebastian Adam Karl Sommer (born July 10, 1796 in Aufseß / Upper Franconia ; † August 10, 1865 in Ottensoos ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran pastor and writer who lived and worked in Franconia .

Life

Sommer was first pastor in Veitlahm (today part of Mainleus in the district of Kulmbach / Upper Franconia) and on October 22, 1839 he moved to Ottensoos in the dean's office in Hersbruck in Middle Franconia, where he worked as a pastor from 1840 to 1865. His gravestone is in the Ottensoos cemetery, but this may not be the place of his burial. The life data of his wife E. Ph. Sommer, née Ebhardt (1797–1849) are also on the gravestone.

Works

Sommer published several books, including a work with sermons and one with aphorisms , which appeared in Nuremberg in 1830 under the title Aphorisms on the connection between historical truth and historical faith and the biblical doctrine of the kingdom of God . Sommer also became known through the inclusion of four songs and a few reflections in the Christoterpe 1837 yearbook , which was published by the pastor and hymnologist Albert Knapp at the publishing house in Tübingen . As editor, Sommer published the work Ährenlese higher truths from the works of Christian writers , which appeared in Nuremberg in 1833, and the book Abendblätter: a paperback for friends of the Christian world of thought and emotion , which appeared in Erlangen in 1832.
