Sebastian Lucius (painter)

Sebastian Lucius (* before 1881, † after 1909) was a German history , portrait and landscape painter of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The dates of his birth and death are unknown.

Lucius, son of the Düsseldorf center politician August Lucius , studied painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1881 to 1884 . There were Hugo Crola and especially Peter Janssen the Elder his teachers. The latter classified his pupil from Erfurt as “gifted”. Lucius later became a private student of Fritz von Uhde in Munich . From 1891/1892 he sent from Italy , where he was associated with Richard Voss , Paul Hoecker and others around 1897 , to the major exhibitions in Munich and Berlin. At the Great Berlin Art Exhibition in 1909, Lucius was represented with the pictures Siesta and Madonna .
