The Seenland Marathon is a landscape run in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen ( Bavaria ).
organization
A marathon on Brombachsee was first held in 2003 as the “Brombachsee Marathon” and took place annually in September. As a further competitions were a half marathon , a walking contest, a Skike -Lauf and student courses offered. The Brombachsee Marathon started at the Großer Brombachsee and ended in Pleinfeld . Large Brombachsee, Igelsbachsee and Kleiner Brombachsee were circled. In 2010 the event was canceled.
In 2011 the follow-up event was first organized by the OAI (Outdoor and Offroad Association International) under the name Seenland Marathon . The marathon route leads two laps around the Großer Brombachsee, the half marathon route one lap. In addition, (Nordic) walking over the half marathon distance, a hobby run, marathon relays and competitions for young talent are offered. The start and finish are centrally located at the Volksfestplatz in Pleinfeld , where a diverse supporting program with trade fair, catering and stage shows takes place.
Most recently, around 2,500 athletes took part. The next edition of the Nifco KTW Lakeland Marathon will take place on 21./22. September 2019.
