The sailing club Ahoi e. V. (SCA) is a sailing club on the Wannsee in Berlin . Its approximately 150 members practice sailing with their approximately 75 sailing boats.

history

The SCA was founded on April 13, 1892 in Berlin; the term ahoy was popular at the time. Initially the association had 33 members with 11 yachts. The first chairman was Paul Schönwald. In 1898 a plot of land in Wendenschloß on the Dahme was bought and a year later on May 14th, 1899 the new clubhouse in Wendenschloß was inaugurated. Opposite was the Grünau rowing regatta course, which is still in use today .

After the Second World War, the clubhouse in Wendenschloß was confiscated and used, among other things, as a cinema for the children of the Soviet soldiers. On January 1, 1951, the club property was expropriated. The property in Wendenschloß is now home to the yacht club Wendenschloß eV

In the year of expropriation, the general assembly took place on April 25, 1951 in Berlin-Schöneberg, at which Hans-Dietrich Pontow was elected chairman. Under his leadership a new home in the western part of the city was sought. The 1903 Sailing Association (SV03) took up the SCA until 1961, and the Müggelsee Yacht Club housed the SCA until 1972. In 1971 the current plot of land at Am Großen Wannsee 50 in Berlin-Wannsee was taken over, on which the new clubhouse was built. The inauguration of the new clubhouse took place on September 10, 1977. In 2009 an extension was completed, which took into account the growing importance of dinghy sailing in the SCA.

In 1992 the SCA celebrated its 100th anniversary and hosted, among other things, the German Championship of Nordic Folk Boats . In 2012 the SCA celebrated its 120th anniversary.

Sporty

In 1982 Andreas and Petra Kabisch from SC Ahoi finished 24th out of 42 participants at the 420 World Cup in Australia. In 2010 Chiara Steinmüller became vice-European youth champion and took 4th place at the World Youth Championship in the Laser Radial. In 2010 and 2011 she acquired the title of German Youth Champion.

The SCA organizes two traditional regattas every year, the Georg Hoffmann Memorial Prize in the summer and the Rolling Home in late autumn, which has made the club known beyond the borders of Berlin.

The SCA is the Berlin base of the Korsar fleet and one of the bases of the Berlin Folkeboot fleet.

District

The home port of the SCA is on the west bank of the Großer Wannsee. The sailing area without bridges extends on the Lower Havel waterway from Stößensee near Pichelsdorf over the lake-like widening of the Havel at Grunewald , past Schwanenwerder , the Großer Wannsee, the arms of the Havel on both sides of the Pfaueninsel , the Jungfernsee to the Glienicker Brücke and on to the Lehnitzsee and Krampnitzsee in Potsdam . The length of the area without bridges on the Havel waters is around 20 kilometers.

Youth and education

The youth department of the SCA has several club boats, mostly optimists , but also a 420 dinghy and a laser dinghy. Training for beginners and advanced learners is offered.
