Seinstedt is part of the municipality of Börßum in the combined municipality of Oderwald , which is located in the district of Wolfenbüttel in Lower Saxony .
geography
The place is above the Großer Bruch at about 100 m above sea level on the federal road 82 not far from Hornburg and 15 km south-east of Wolfenbüttel as the crow flies . The border to Saxony-Anhalt runs through the Great Bruch .
history
In 1911 an only partially preserved west-east oriented stone grave of the Bernburg culture from Rogenstein was discovered. It is an example of the stone chambers in the Harz foreland that may have been built under the influence of the gallery graves .
Seinstedt was first mentioned in a document in 996. The Kreuzkapelle in Hildesheim , later the Michaeliskloster, received the property in Sianstidi from Bishop Bernward von Hildesheim this year . In 1911 a stone chamber grave of the Bernburg culture was discovered. In 1181 Frederick Barbarossa's troops gathered in the area around Hornburg in the war against Henry the Lion .
With the municipality reform in Lower Saxony , Seinstedt became a part of the municipality of Achim on March 1, 1974 . With its dissolution, the place came to the municipality of Börßum on November 1, 2011.
