The Seminar Schloss Bogenhofen is an educational center of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Austria and German-speaking Switzerland . Bogenhofen is located 6 km east of Braunau am Inn .
History of the place
The place Bogenhofen (known as "Pugenhofen", "Pubenhofen" and "Boubenhofen" since the 13th century) was an old Bavarian manor house . The oldest documented mentions of the castle coat of arms date from the 14th century (see Castle Bogenhofen ). The manor was shaped like a moated castle. In 1438 the castle was acquired by the Bavarian Chancellor Andreas Loder and in 1451 Duke Ludwig von Niederbayern grants it the “freedom of the court and justice” for the castle and the village. Loders' son no longer called himself like his father, but "Pugenhofen". In the course of history, the owner changed between a few different Bavarian and Austrian aristocrats , until 1949 the castle grounds were purchased by the Seventh-day Adventist Church . The current castle building in the rural, classical style was built in 1834 .
Overview of the history of the seminar
The seminar Schloss Bogenhofen began in 1949 with a so-called mission school (included a theological mission course, a nursing preschool and a general education course), a language school followed in 1951 (1957-2000 cooperation with the Munich Goethe Institute , from 2000 with the Austrian language diploma in German ) and one since In 1980 state-recognized office and administration school was added, the latter was closed in 1989. The founding school director was Ferdinand Pieringer . The company Optimo was founded in 1954 as a way of making additional income for the students at the seminar; in the meantime, this company based in Braunau am Inn has developed into the largest bed insert factory in Austria.
