The Künzell transmission tower (Hessischer Rundfunk) is a transmission system of the Hessischer Rundfunk for the transmission of radio signals. It is located in the area of the municipality of Künzell . Antenna support is a free-standing steel lattice tower . The city of Fulda and the surrounding areas are supplied from this transmitter .
The system was built in the early 1960s as a filler transmitter for the transmission of German television on VHF channel 11. In the first half of the 1980s, the radio programs hr3 and hr1 began to be broadcast on the VHF frequencies 93.6 MHz and 102.5 MHz. In 1986 the hr1 frequency was initially changed to 103.9 MHz and transferred to the then new program hr4 in October of that year .
