occupation

Sendero is a Chilean Horror - Thriller by Lucio A. Rajos from the year 2015. The Backwoods movie based on the unexplained disappearance of Chileans in the 1990s.

action

Ana is on her way with her friends to a weekend house in the deepest Chilean province. When the friends take a shortcut, the first thing they find is a dead animal on the road. A short time later the car broke down. A taciturn man bailed out the five friends, but towards the end the situation almost escalated.

Shortly afterwards, the friends find a seriously injured woman on the side of the road. When they want to help her, they are kidnapped themselves and end up with a backwoods family, consisting of a strong mother figure and two brothers who like to have sex with each other. What this strange family intends to do with them remains unclear. In order to break Ana, she is forced to kill one of her friends.

A martyrdom begins for the other four, in which they keep trying to escape together and the plan is thwarted again and again. Apparently the family are traffickers who have captured the friends of a decadent-looking older man. Therefore, apart from a few injuries, hardly anything happens to them. The last attempt to escape, however, ends in a massacre in which all but Ana have to lose their lives. The trafficker is the last to be struck down.

Ana now flees to the country road, where she meets a woman who takes her with her. Still traumatized, she shoots the woman with a shotgun.

background

For Lucio A. Rojas it is his third feature film after Perfide and Zombie Dawn . Like his other works, many splatter effects are also used here . The plot of the film is an attempt to explain the disappearance of numerous Chileans in the 1980s / 1990s, the so-called Desaparecidos . The film is based on numerous Backwoods films, such as Blood Court in Texas , Wrong Turn , Frontier (s) or Hill of Bloody Eyes or the remake The Hills Have Eyes . He alludes to these films in numerous scenes.

The film premiered on October 12th at the Sitges Film Festival and was subsequently shown at other film festivals. In 2016 it was nominated as “best film” on Fantasporto , but was defeated by Agnieszka Smoczynska's siren song .

In Austria and Switzerland the film was released on the uncut label Shock Entertainment as a limited to 1000 mediabook with Blu-Ray and DVD. A publication in Germany via I-ON New Media is planned for June 2018.
