Senggerinchin

The Mongol prince Senggerinchin (other spellings Sengge Rinchen , Senggelinqin ; * 1811 , † May 18, 1865 near Heze ) was a well-known military commander of the Qing dynasty .

He was the prince of the Horqin Mongols in Inner Mongolia and (following the example of other Mongol princes of Inner Mongolia) served the Qing as an army commander. Between 1853 and 1855 he fought against the Taiping and stopped their northern campaign against Beijing with his cavalry (1853, the emperor and court had already left the city). In the Second Opium War he was unsuccessful against the British and French (1858-1860, Dagu fortresses and defense of Beijing). After 1860 he achieved successes against various rebel armies in Anhui , Shandong and Henan , especially against the Nian bandits . In May 1865 he was killed by the Nian near Heze in Shandong.

The residence of Senggerinchin ( Senggelinqin wangfu ) in the rear Horqin banner of the left wing has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (6-495) since 2006 . His grave stele in the Mongolian community of Sijiazi in Faku County, Shenyang City is a " Liaoning Province Cultural Monument ".
