After working in a Hildesheim metal foundry, Anton Senking founded the A. Senking Spar stove factory in Hildesheim in 1863 . The plant manufactured household stoves (Senking economy stoves) as well as various cooking, roasting, kneading and baking equipment for restaurants and bakeries. Another branch of the company manufactured laundry equipment such as spinners ( centrifuges ) and ironing and flattening machines . The company later received the title of imperial - royal  purveyor to the court and built, among other things, the large kitchen for the Reichstag building in Berlin, which was completed in 1894 .

Due to the high demand, Senking built a new plant in 1901 next to the freight and marshalling yard in Hildesheim's northern part of the city on Römerring and on Schlachthofstrasse (today Senkingstrasse). The company was a stock corporation from 1914 and was converted into a GmbH in 1936. During the Second World War , in addition to field kitchens , fuses , parts for armored vehicles and light metal parts for aircraft construction were also manufactured.

In an air raid on Hildesheim on March 14, 1945, the British Royal Air Force bombed several targets in the city, including the VDM semi-finished product works on Römer- / Cheruskerring (colloquially known as "Metallwerk"; today KSM Castings GmbH , previously Kloth-Senking Metallgießerei ) and the freight and marshalling yard. The lowering mechanism in between was also hit and largely destroyed. Over 150 people died, including the plant manager Rudolf Hage, as well as at least 27 prisoners of war and forced laborers .

After the Second World War, Senking manufactured, among other things, oil stoves for living spaces and specialized in complete systems for commercial laundries.

The company that last traded as Senkingwerk GmbH KG was split up after 1990. Buderus kitchen technology took over a part; In 1998, laundry technology was bought by the Danish Jensen Group . Today there is a self-service grocery store and a hardware store on the former factory premises on Hildesheimer Senkingstrasse.
